The Spiritual Caregiving Program is an interfaith/nondenominational program in which volunteers provide confidential emotional and spiritual (not religious) support to seniors and disabled people experiencing depression, loss, grief, illness, or spiritual concerns of normal aging. Volunteers are required to make a two year commitment, beginning with 30-35 hours of initial training, offered twice a year. Once trained, each volunteer is matched with one screened care receiver for weekly home visits. Bimonthly supervision/ continuing education meetings of the volunteer team promote learning, quality in care, and spiritual caregiver well-being. Applicants from all faith backgrounds and spiritual but not religious are welcome to apply, and w e welcome applicants of any gender or sexual orientation.
In advance of the next training, to begin January, 2020, we will hold two informational meetings in October and November, 2019. Inquire any time to get started - we accept volunteer applications on a rolling basis!
