This opportunity is specifically for the Curry Senior Center's Senior Vitality program: "Senior Vitality: enabling clients to better manage their health and well-being through in-home internet access, technology training and health coaching."

We need YOU to tutors seniors in how to use iPads!

As a volunteer with us, you will be providing 1:1 tutoring to Russian-speaking seniors taking classes to learn how to use an iPad. For 2 hours a week, you'll support these seniors as they go through a curriculum focused on learning this technology that, for them, is new and exciting! You'll help them understand what they've learned in class and are struggling with, or help them do a deeper dive into the topics that interest them.

By tutoring a senior in technology you're not just giving them a new skill, you're opening up an entire new world to them!

Must speak Russian*

When: 2 hours/week, M-F 9am-4pm. Limited potential for Saturday hours. Ideally starts the week of 05/20/2019, but can make accommodations if necessary.

Commitment: Since the classes last one year, we hope to get a volunteer who is able to commit to supporting the full year of classes. At a minimum, we request a 6-month commitment.

Where: 333 Turk St, the Curry Senior Center

Community Tech Network (CTN) programs help ensure that everyone has the skills necessary to use digital technology and close the digital divide. CTN works with a variety of organizations to close the digital divide. CTN provides a range of services to address technology related issues faced by underserved communities. DIGITAL SKILLS TRAINING
Raising the Level of Digital Literacy: CTN works with community partners to provide FREE access to computers, the internet, and skilled instructors. However, with the rise in ownership of tablets and smartphones-among seniors in particular-many training sessions now help people optimize the use of their own device.

CONNECT @ HOME
Getting More Households Online: Sometimes it simply isn’t feasible for someone to go to a library or community center to learn basic computer skills. Therefore, CTN works in partnership to help low-income families and older adults get connected to internet at home.

DEVELOPING DIGITAL LEADERS
Creating Community-Tech Champions: CTN believes that for projects to be sustainable, there must be people who are dedicated to the cause and take a lead in their community
