The Tour is made possible through the generous support of hundreds of volunteers who dedicate thousands of hours between them. Their efforts result not only in a wonderful experience for the thousands of visitors who come to Savannah, but also in bringing vital dollars to the on-going programs of the community outreach efforts of Christ Church Anglican. Every volunteer should be proud of the fact that they contribute to the well-being and future of our beautiful city. As a "Thank You" to our volunteers, each of them receives a ticket to the walking tour of their choice.
House Docent - Volunteers work in the homes and gardens on one or more of the Tour days. Responsibilities include checking tickets at the entrance and sharing information about the site with visitors in a specific area of the home or garden. Docents should have a good knowledge of Savannah, and an interest in learning about the architectural history of the house(s) in which they work.
Street Guides - Volunteers are assigned to strategic locations on the Tour each day to assist visitors as they walk from site to site. It is very helpful if these volunteers have good knowledge of the downtown area, as questions for general directions, restaurant suggestions, etc. are common. Maps are provided to each volunteer.
Tour Headquarters - Volunteers needed in Tour Headquarters to assist with two primary functions:
- Distributing tickets that have been ordered in advance.
- Selling merchandise in the Tour of Homes Gift Shop.

Mission Statement
To provide a high-quality visitation experience to Savannah and its environs while maintaining a vision of Christian service, thanksgiving for gifts and contribution to community.
Description
Beginning in 1935, the Women’s Auxiliary of Christ Church provided a direct response to charitable needs in Savannah as a result of the Great Depression. The first Tour featured five homes showcased in one evening and raised $50 for the community. The Tour continued to grow over the decades.
In addition to the Tour’s role in promoting Savannah, it also raises money for the support of several charities in Savannah and around the world via Christ Church Anglican and are also disbursed to the many preservation projects throughout Savannah. Recipients have included Habitat for Humanity, a local food mission serving over 60,000 meals per year, a home for unwed teenage mothers and many more. All proceeds are used to meet charitable needs.
