Bernadettes House, Inc is looking for a Summer Camp Director.

Responsibilities:

Hospitality and Program Support Services

  • Meet the public and be supportive of and sensitive to diversity of people, and cultures
  • Maintain an environment that facilitates and enhances the goals of Bernadettes House
  • Welcome, sign-in and provide orientation to arriving groups, as needed
  • Conduct camp tours, as needed
  • Partner with Program Administrator and Camp Assistants to ensure seamless check-in and registration process

Food Service

  • Provide oversight to all food service aspects within health and safety codes and children needs
  • Ensure food is properly stored and disposed of

Maintenance, Housekeeping and Project Management

  • Oversee the maintenance of the facility for the office, kitchen, common areas, and grounds
  • Ensure that facility systems (e.g., basic plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, sprinkler systems, wall surfaces, painting, and HVAC) are in compliance with health and safety codes and other regulations
  • Oversee housekeeping function to ensure the facility is inviting to parents and children
  • Oversee maintenance of grounds to ensure safety and curb appeal
  • At the direction of the CEO, Program Administrator, and Board of Directors; plan, prioritize, and execute capital improvements

Supervision

  • Provide staff leadership on all personnel matters
  • Train staff in customer service
  • Develop staff schedules to ensure the highest level of customer service

Finance and Administration

  • In coordination of Administration office, develop and manage the camp’s budget including monthly revenue and expenses
  • Manage budget to ensure that payment's are received on time

General

  • Communicate both verbally and in writing in clear and logical manner
  • Adhere to deadlines in a fast paced and busy environment
  • Respond effectively and efficiently in a crisis; problem solve under pressure
  • Represent and interpret the facility to others as requested

Qualifications

  • Experience preferred
  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Five years experience in customer service
  • Three years demonstrated experience in personnel supervision
  • Experience in facilities management is a plus
  • Background check clearance is required
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain)

Description

Bernadette’s House, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) faith-based charitable nonprofit organization that was founded in October 2012. Our volunteer staff is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive home-like environment for preteen and teenage girls who live in and around the Laurel, Maryland area. Careful consideration is made to match each girl in our program with a mentor who is dedicated to developing a nurturing relationship that encourages the mentee to venture on a journey of self-discovery and "dare to dream" of a life full of possibilities. Our program is designed to foster the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills that will enable the girls to make life choices that will have a positive impact on their future.
