Who are we at Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity? (www.nashuahabitat.org)
Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity (GNHFH) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strengthens families and communities through affordable homeownership opportunities.
We work in partnership with corporations, like minded community groups, faith-based organizations and individual volunteers to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating simple, decent, energy efficient, affordable homes. We build affordable homes through the use of volunteer labor and donated materials where possible.
We partner with low to moderate income families who are unable to qualify for conventional mortgages. Qualified families are given a hand up (not a hand out), they pay monthly, no interest mortgages to Habitat. These monies, in turn, go back into building more homes for families in need. Habitat is committed to developing and uplifting families and communities by breaking the cycle by creating home ownership.
Not only do Habitat families pay for their homes through their monthly mortgage, they also put in a minimum of 350 hours of sweat equity prior to becoming homeowners.
GNHFH is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and we serve families in Amherst, Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Hudson, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, Pelham, Wilton and Windham.

Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races, and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
Description
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds, and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
