Camp Kesem is a national nonprofit organization designed to support children through and beyond a parent's cancer by creating a magical week during which they can find support and have endless fun. We are in search of a mental health professional to help us out at Koronis Ministries in Paynesville, Minnesota from August 18-23. Please note that this position takes place at an overnight camp, and therefore this position is expected to remain on the campsite at all times throughout the week. Below is the position description. Travel costs are reimbursed and a stipend is negotiable. Volunteers are preferred. To apply, please go to kesem.force.com/login.Thank you for your consideration.

Mental Health Professional Position Requirements:
* Master’s-level degree, licensed or working toward licensure (minimum) in counseling, social work,
or related field. Two years of experience is also preferable.
Mental Health Professional Responsibilities:
* Is a resource for camp staff and leaders to help them better interact and communicate with
campers and each other.
* Is a "mandated reporter" and helps with communicating reportable offenses that we are required
by state law to report to law enforcement or social services.
* Is responsible for any major psychological issues that arise during the week of camp that fall
outside of a counselor's control and expertise. Counselors should be open to sharing difficult
situations with the MHP and while the MHP will first work to coach and support the counselor or

staff member, s/he may need to intercede if the safety of the camper is in danger or if the
counselor, camp advisor, and MHP agree that this is the best course of action.
* Checks in with the Admin team and counselors, particularly after stressful situations, to make
sure the team has had a chance to rest and is able to continue to be successful at camp.
* Is present for at least a part of counselor training (if possible) and all parts of camp in which
campers will be present. Must remain at camp the entire session.
* The mental health professional should sign all of the required staff paperwork
More Mental Health Professional information:
* The mental health professional should always be available in case needed by a counselor or staff
member. In this manner, the mental health professional will do their best to meet with each
counselor individually throughout the week for "counselor check-ins" which are outlined in the
"Counselor Check-in" document.
* The mental health professional is an integral part of the camp staff. He/she should be included in
camp activities. This is a great way for the MHP to get involved with camp programs and to be
interacting with campers, counselors, and staff.
* The mental health professional, as a professional and responsible, respected adult can be used
as a resource for a variety of issues. Counselors and staff should feel comfortable consulting with
him/her regularly on matters of camper behavior, counselor issues, etc. The mental health
professional should do his/her best to help the counselor or camp leader manage the situation.
The mental health professional should provide support to counselors working through difficult
situations, and may be asked to directly step in to help resolve behavioral or personnel issues.
