Uplift Community Development Mentor Program is a comprehensive school-based mentoring program for public schools that build relationships with students in the context of tutoring, moral character development, Leadership, and family involvement.
The Purpose of Mentoring- To help students reach their potential
- To guide students through life experiences
- To provide students with a positive influence
- To provide mentors an opportunity to make a difference
The Prerequisites of Mentoring
- A sincere desire to be involved with a young person
- Available time
- Dependability
- Active Listener
- Empathy
- See solutions and opportunities
- Flexible and open
The Program of Mentoring
- Mentors commit to meeting with the students for an hour a week
- Mentors meet with students, either 1-to-1 or group mentoring
- Mentors build relationships by spending time on school work, attending an event, or eating lunch together
- Mentors establish personal and academic goals and track accomplishments through the weekly progress report

Mission Statement
1. Mission -To holistically uplift communities one family at a time. -Scripture Theme: "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 2. Vision -We desire to see families in crisis "lifted up" and restored to spiritual, emotional, and financial wholeness.
Description
Uplift Community Development is a 501(c)3 Faith-Based Non-Profit Organization located in Arlington, Texas. Founded by Dr. Maurice Pugh, Uplift strives to work within the community as we "Uplift our communities one family at a time." We model our organization under 3 core services, Education, Encouragement, and in the future Employment. Within our Education department, we have our mentoring and tutoring program, where students are raising their academics and learning how to become leaders. Along with that, our Dad’s Club, where once a month we work with the fathers of our communities. Lastly, we work to match volunteers with school events such as Career Days, Carnivals, and Read-In Days. Under Encouragement, we provide Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas presents to families in need. We also do community enrichment events like our MLK Boys2Men Seminar where boys learn the importance of choices, police interaction, and carrying out MLK’s vision in society today.
