Did you know that most teens in Polk County don't abuse drugs or alcohol? It is true! But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be concerned about risky behaviors.
"Own the Upside ... Avoid the Downside" is an exhibit that serves as a unique and effective educational resource for parents of teenagers. StandUP Polk Coalition's trailer initiative teaches parents to recognize clues signaling potential involvement in drugs and risky behaviors that may be visible in plain sight or easily concealed in everyday items and seemingly ordinary belongings in the room.
If you enjoy talking with people or making presentations to small groups and have a passion for preventing the underage use of drugs and alcohol this volunteer opportunity is for you! Trained staff from InnerAct Alliance need assistance in providing information at trailer presentations throughout Polk County.

Description
Leading Through Experience! You've gained a lifetime of experience. Now is the time to put your skills and talents to good use by volunteering through RSVP. RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through non-profit, faith-based, and governmental agencies to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of volunteers with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental accident insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
