Do you have a passion for inspiring students to explore pathways in STEM careers?

Would you like to share your journey as a "STEMthusiast" by helping students 6-18 get a real-world understanding what your STEM career is all about?

Whether you aspire to inspire students as a STEM speaker, or want to help set up, sign participants in, or wear a cool T-shirt and make sure people are having a great time- we need your help!

Volunteers for the 3rd annual Just Say YES STEMFEST in celebration of GA STEM DAY by Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company will attend an on-site training at the Microsoft Store at Lenox Mall to get a laser-focused run of show for logistics and set up leading up to the event.

We need all hands on deck to make this greatest, most interactive, and STEMtastic event we've hosted yet!

This year, we need the following types of volunteers:

Set up and break down team (6): tables/ decor
Registration table (4)
STEM mentors (STEMstories) (6)
Volunteer Coordinator (1)
Swag Table (4)
T-shirts (4)
Snacks & Beverages (4)

Help MetIncPowerCo celebrate GA STEM DAY 2019 at the "3rd Annual Just Say YES STEMFEST!" powered by Microsoft

This fun, educational, and STEM-packed day at Microsoft at Lenox Mall is just one additional way Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company transforms everyday places into a Public Learning Classrooms!

For our 3rd Annual Just Say YES STEM FEST in partnership with Microsoft, we're inviting the community to this all day on-site, hands-on project based learning experience to have hands-on access to coding, app and website development, digital device resources, 3-D maker software, Fresh Paint program via Surface tablets Harry Potter Kano, and more. Mentors from various STEM careers will be on hand to share their STEMstories and give real-world accounts of their journey and pathways into their STEM-focused jobs.

Fun for all ages and skill levels! The entire store will be a STEMtastic exploratory zone with rotating workshops and the opportunity for high school and college students to become MIE certified.

This event is perfect for 2nd grade- high school students, parents, K-12 educators, college students, and STEAM clubs/ STEM providers.

"Just Say YES! STEM FEST" is an annual event that launched on GA STEM DAY 2017 as part of Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company's Just Say YES! to Youth Initiative showcasing our Building E-STE(A)M For Youth Partnership Program Alliance.

Why digital skills?

From basic digital literacy to advanced computer science, digital skills are often out of reach for the young people who need them most. In a world being transformed by technology, all youth should have the opportunity to develop the creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills gained by learning computer science.

The focus of this event is to:

• reinforce growth mindset in young people and transition their thinking from "I CAN'T" into "I CAN" for STEM-related curriculum and careers
• help connect parents, educators and STEAM providers together to increase a capacity for a wider opportunity for partnership of resources and youth enrichment
• increase impact for the lives of children needing a deeper exploration of computer science, technology, engineering, the arts, mechanics, math, and medicine.
• serve the community in free open public spaces to increase the opportunities for fun learning environments for all people

The event is free and open to the general public, parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to pre-register for their child's attendance because workshops are first-come, first-served until capacity is filled.

Our Approach

MetIncPowerCo routinely partners with other nonprofits, government agencies, educators, and businesses to reach young people who are least likely to have access to supplemental curriculum inside and outside of the classroom. Our partnership with Microsoft increases access to Computer Science education, while immersing historically under-served students with access to free public spaces to learn, explore and remain inspired.

All volunteers for Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company must be able to pass a criminal background check, have their own transportation for on-site opportunities at host locations, and attend all required onboarding training prior to working with students.
