Adelante Development Center

Storehouse New Mexico
A Community Resource

Wednesday and Friday Afternoon: Storehouse Customer Care Volunteer. The Storehouse, New Mexico's largest food pantry, provides over 2 million meals a year to individuals and families in need, but we can’t do it without the help of volunteers. We need some specific help on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-3pm, assisting clients and restocking shelves for the next day. Please contact Swarupa Watlington at sdwatlington@storehousenm.org or 505 828 1434 (cell). Our website is www.storehousenm.org.

Mission Statement

Adelante is a diverse nonprofit organization that supports people with mental and physical disabilities, seniors, and disadvantaged populations across New Mexico.

Description

Adelante is a locally founded nonprofit 501(c)3 human service agency with locations throughout New Mexico. Adelante, which means 'forward’ in Spanish, describes our approach to supporting people with disabilities. Too many people are taught to accept stereotypes, limiting them from moving forward. Adelante says, "Set goals and we will help you achieve them."

Adelante was formed in 1978, a time when ideas such as independence, rights, choice and respect were emerging. The agency embraced those concepts and decided to make a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities. Since then, Adelante has taken the opportunity to expand services as needs have arisen. Today, the agency is a diverse nonprofit organization that supports people with mental and physical disabilities, seniors, and disadvantaged populations across New Mexico. We innovate to meet the needs of the community.
