The Pets for Life Street Team canvasses door to door in target communities that have been identified as low income and lacking in animal resources such as veterinarians, pet stores, etc. The Pets for Life program is designed to provide free spay/neuter surgeries and other resources, as well as providing information and support on the overall wellness of companion animals. This team seeks to build lasting relationships within the community to support both the pets and the people who love them.

Mission Statement
To protect and to promote the well being of animals and to foster positive relationships between people and animals.
Description
The Humane Society is the largest animal shelter in the State of Washington, opening our doors to tens of thousands of homeless pets every year. We find find homes for more than 7,000 animals a year, and reunite thousands more with their owners. While we do not provide animal control services, we do shelter for local municipalities. As an open-admission shelter, we accept every animal that comes to us, regardless of its age, condition, behavior, or medical status. We are therefore forced to euthanize some animals that are do not find homes. Our goal is to find a home for every healthy, adoptable animal while still maintaining our "open admission" status. Acheiving this means creating a "no-kill community" in Pierce County, which is our primary goal.
We are an independent non-profit organization with 501(c) 3 status. We depend upon the tax-deductible donations of our generous donors. We are not a governmental agency nor are we affiliated with or funded by any national animal welfare organization.
