CoSA stands for Circle of Support and Accountability. The volunteer teams in CoSA consist of three community volunteers, a Core Member (a neighbor transitioning from incarceration), and the THRIVE reentry coach (a THRIVE staff member).

The CoSA team walks with the Core Member through the challenges and successes of reentering the community from jail or prison. The full teams meet together weekly to share and support each other as well as work through the difficult moments. Team members often meet outside of the circle meeting to connect over coffee, completing an application for housing or work, shopping, offering a ride, etc.

About THRIVE Communities

Location:

175 Cabot Street, Wannalancit Mills, Lowell, MA 01854, US

Mission Statement

To empower communities by creating spaces that welcome and support our neighbors transitioning from incarceration.

Description

THRIVE Communities seeks through its mission to address the challenges faced by men and women as they return from prison to public society, particularly the challenge of connection to community, including underlying racial and economic stress and disparities, negative stigma and distrust, and the institutionalization of returning citizens.

With your support, THRIVE will disrupt cycles of incarceration, isolation, and social harm by organizing and supporting grassroots efforts for restorative reentry, community building, and leadership development among those most impacted by incarceration. This community-based response to the challenges of reentry will help communities learn how to heal themselves and address systemic barriers to reentry.

Why? Because when wholeness and justice replace cycles of incarceration and oppression, communities THRIVE.
