The Marketing and Social Media intern assists Special Olympics Southern California staff to spread inclusion, recruit athletes and volunteers, and raise funds. Projects will include interviewing and writing profiles, writing social media copy, working with news media, updating website content, assisting at events, submitting calendar items for publication, and assisting with public relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Creating social media posts and strategic plans
* Interviewing athletes and supporters along with contacting them for information
* Writing content and copy editing
* Supporting publicity plans, including public relations, media relations, and social media
* Supporting the Communications Team at events
* Assisting with merchandise, including getting quotes, managing inventory, and brainstorming items to sell
* Assisting with maintaining the photo and video library
* Developing and editing graphics
* Helping maintaining SOSC’s websites
* Pulling and writing reports

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • • 10 - 20 hrs/wk REMOTE with option to occasionally work out of our Chapter Office in Long Beach • Available for the following season – Spring (Jan. – June)
  • • Excellent attention to detail • Writing and copy editing experience • Basic Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred • Knowledge of social media and its use in advancing organizational goals preferred • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
