Are you looking for a meaningful, fun way to give back to the community this fall?
Washington English Center is a non-profit, community-based organization that uses volunteer teachers to provide high-quality educational services, access to technology, and life-skill programs to all adult immigrants in the Washington metropolitan area, regardless of ability to pay.
We are currently recruiting volunteer English teachers for our upcoming term. Fall term starts on September 16th and our pre-service volunteer orientation is on September 14th so if you are interested, don’t wait! The term will run through December 8th and we will be closed during the week of Thanksgiving.
Please visit washingtonenglish.org/volunteers to find more information about our programs including class times and office hours and to fill out an application.
While our students come to class multiple times a week, we ask our volunteers to commit to only one day a week during our 6-week summer term. We provide teachers with a course syllabus and a textbook and use a unique co-teaching method to provide new volunteers with the support they might need throughout the semester. The WEC staff is also always here to support you with hands-on guidance. We have your back every step of the way!
Currently, we have a high need of volunteers for all of our programs so if you are interested in supporting our mission but unsure if you are ready to enter the classroom, please reach out to find out about our other volunteering opportunities!
For more information about our programs OR to apply, please visit www.washingtonenglish.org/volunteers/ . We look forward to meeting you!
