Care for Friends provides crucial services and resources for individuals experiencing homelessness, food, and housing insecurity. We would not be able to do this amazing work without dedicated and willing volunteers like you! We are looking for consistent volunteers to help serve hot meals to our guests on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 9:15am-1pm.
We need 4-6 people to help in a few different ways:
- Meal preparation, under the direction of our experienced Team Leader
- 'Plating' food for distribution
- Handing food out to guests
- Running our "market table" with canned goods and non-perishables from our pantry
- Possibly assisting with dishes, tear-down if needed!
We provide the food from our pantry, and our Team Leader creates the menu and will instruct you on where you're needed in the kitchen. Since we are an essential service for our guests, they are dining indoors under strict safety protocols. Everyone- guests and volunteers- is required to wear a mask in our space.
If you are available and interested, please contact our Paulina Guerra at cffvco@gmail.com, or on our instagram @careforfriends.

Mission Statement
Care for Friends provides easy access to community, food and overall wellness for Chicago’s most vulnerable and under-served people, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Through its programs, Care for Friends successfully connects people with community resources to enable them to achieve a better quality of life.
Description
Our flagship program is "Food for Friends" - where we create a safe space for anyone requiring a meal to gather in community for a no-cost hot lunch served in sit-down, family style with dignity and respect.
Other services are available during this gathering time, including haircuts, a health clinic, clothes closet, and toiletries distribution. Additionally, representatives from our various partner organizations begin to make connections with our guests - establishing trusting relationships that will ultimately allow our guests to connect with the services they need to achieve a better quality of life.
