Ride The Rockies - Aid Station Captain

Ride The Rockies is a multi-day bike tour that travels with a core group of volunteers for the week. Volunteers receive clothing, lodging, a fuel card, and more! Key Dates: June 7 th Orientation, June 8 th Opening Day, June 9 th - 15 th Tour Dates.
Aid Station Captain
Key Responsibilities:
- The Aid Station Captains will work as a team with the AM Aid Truck to set up the Aid Station - tables, chairs, food station, water station, watching for a good flow in and out of the aid station.
-Captains will also lead a group of additional volunteers to help run the Aid Station smoothly.
-Read site-map to set up aid station
-Assess and set up a traffic flow into and out of the Aid Station
-Fill water and Hydration Mix coolers, prepare food to be served, manage three-stream waste management tents (with help from the Green Team), ensure porta-potties are well stocked, put out any signage provided
-Host the aid station - refer to map book to respond to route questions, gather information on who needs medical attention, a SAG ride or bike repairs
-Protect public and private party: enforce limitations and restrictions
-When Aid Station closes, work with PM Aid truck and Volunteer groups to break down the aid station
-Self-Care: make sure to stay hydrated, eat, take a break!
Qualifications:
-Work effectively with a team of volunteers
-Outgoing and friendly with cyclists
-Work / stand on your feet for at least 6 hours
-Help with bicycle traffic control (act as a course marshal to lead people into / out of the Aid Station)
-Able to lift 30 lbs - boxes of fruit / 10 gallon coolers full of water
-Use basic kitchen skills to prepare food: cut fruit with scissors or a knife, wipe down tables)
-Problem solver and ability to think on your feet
-Flexible, patient and tolerant - many cyclists will ask the same questions over and over again
-Have your own vehicle and/or willing to carpool with other Aid Station Volunteers

Ride The Rockies June 9th - 15th, 2019 One of the best ways to be involved with Ride The Rockies without actually riding it is to volunteer!
RTR travels with a core group of volunteers who help make this bike tour a success. The RTR Volunteer Crew is a unique group; some of our most dedicated volunteers started only a few years ago, and others have more than 25 years under their belts!
Friday June 7th - Orientation 1p - 4pm in Crested Butte, CO
Saturday June 8th - Opening Day!
Sunday June 9th - Saturday June 15th: Tour Dates
