The ideal volunteer for this position needs no prior experience working with plants, but must have a willingness to learn. The applicant will learn how to care for plants in a hydroponic growing operation: watering, seeding, managing plant nutrition, harvesting and starting new growing cycles. The applicant will aid in our experiments with growing mushrooms in our Growtainers as well. They will also learn how to make and manage compost as well as assist in the maintenance of our outdoor garden.
The applicant will get experience setting up and working at a farmer's market stand at our Free Family Farmer's Market. The Free Family Farmer's Market program distributes fresh produce in "pop-up markets" at early childhood learning centers around the Tulsa area.
