Voluntarios para la Biblioteca, Tutor Bilingüe para GED: El Servicio de Alfabetización para Adultos de la Biblioteca del Condado de Multnomah necesita voluntarios hispanohablantes bilingües que estén interesados en ayudar con el programa de GED en español.

Algunas de las responsabilidades son:

  • Brindar aprendizaje y apoyo a adultos que deseen mejorar sus habilidades en lectura, escritura y matemáticas básicas.
  • Ayudar a prepararse para el GED y a adultos interesados en aprender a leer.
  • Ayudar a alumnos con aprendizaje de tecnología básica.

Compromiso de tiempo requerido: Se requiere un compromiso de 2 horas por semana; idealmente los voluntarios se comprometerán a 3 meses o más.

Calificaciones o Habilidades:

  • Mínimo 18 años de edad o más.
  • Diploma de escuela secundaria, o GED.
  • Tener experiencia en tutoría de preferencia.

Virtual tutor for the Spanish GED: Multnomah County Library Adult Literacy Services needs bilingual English and Spanish speaking volunteers who are interested in helping with the Spanish GED program.

Some of the responsibilities are:

  • Provide learning and support to adults who want to improve their skills in reading, writing, and basic math.
  • Help prepare for the GED and work with adults to improve their reading skills in Spanish.
  • Help students with learning basic technology.

Time commitment required: a commitment of two hours per week is required; ideally volunteers will commit to 3 months or more.

Other requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Past tutoring experience preferred.

Multnomah County Library is the oldest public library west of the Mississippi River, with a history that reaches back to 1864. As Oregon's largest public library, Multnomah County Library serves nearly one-fifth of the state's population with a wide variety of programs and services.

The mission of the volunteer program is to engage community members in enhancing the services that Multnomah County Library is able to provide online, at library locations, and in the community. Volunteers are engaged throughout the organization including at all of our 19 libraries and our outreach programs.
