The NDSC welcomes over 3000 people to our annual convention, and we require a great deal of volunteer support working with children and adults with Down syndrome to make the convention a success! The convention will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center July 27-30.
Most importantly is support for our Youth & Adults Conference and Kids’ Camp. Volunteers for Kids’ Camp (age 16 and older) assist children ages 6 months to 14 years while they participate in crafts, games, and educational activities. Volunteers for the Youth & Adults Conference (age 18 and older) have three ways of being involved:
Table Volunteers lead a group of eight self-advocates in planned activities, encouraging them to engage in the programming and with each other. We ask that table volunteers commit to all 3 days of the convention.
Table Floaters assist Table Volunteers with the needs of the self-advocates, escort the self-advocates to/from the restroom, and help with transition between workshops and activities.
Back of House Volunteers monitor hallways and exits, guide self-advocates to/from the restroom, assist with transition between workshops, and support self-advocates in need of "downtime."
We also have volunteer opportunities with Registration, Educator Conference, Research Rally, Advocacy Training, Medical Roundtable, and as Session Hosts.
Please register as a volunteer on our volunteer registration website at https://ndsc.ivolunteer.com/pittsburgh_2019.
