Position overview:
Asante Africa Foundation is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and manage our fundraising events. As an Event Coordinator, you will be working with vendors, donors, attendees and volunteers. This is great opportunity to enhance your management and organizational skills. Being part of Asante Africa Foundation will give you hands-on experience in the day-to-day work at the fast paced organization. The hours are flexible and you can work remotely. Time commitment is approximately 7-15 hours per week. Must be in the San Francisco/ Bay area and able to visit venues.
Candidates will demonstrate experience managing multiple tasks while having a keen attention to detail and must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This volunteer must uphold confidentiality at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Organize facilities and manage all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, equipment, promotional material,
- Organize and manage a team of volunteers
- Plan and keep to a budget
- Facilitate team
Qualifications:
- Must be professional and detail
- Must be able to uphold confidentiality at all
- Must possess excellent writing and communication
- Must be a team player and able to lead a team
- Must have good budgeting and financial skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office such as MS Word, and Excel

We form partnerships with African communities and work with passionate local program managers who are deeply committed to creating change in their African villages. We envision African communities and families in which children have the opportunity to receive QUALITY education to define their futures. Generous contributions from Asante Africa Foundation donors bring these dreams to life.
Local villagers define their needs for achieving quality education, through infrastructures for all children attending school (such as construction of schools and sanitation facilities, serving a daily meal), providing teaching resources and educational materials, and funding scholarships / sponsorship for highly motivated and academically gifted children.
Asante is the Swahili word for thank you. We are thankful to be active members of the communities we serve and we are grateful to our donors who fund projects that bring opportunity, choice and possibility to African villages.
