Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you've experienced poverty, it's difficult to truly understand. The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. CAPS is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.
CAPS is not a game. It is based on real Community Action clients and their lives!
You will volunteer and work as local banks, neighbors, schools, corporations, etc.
This is a way to better understanding of how poverty affects those around you. It is a great opportunity to get involved with!

Mission Statement
Starfish Family Services strengthens families to create brighter futures for children.
Description
At Starfish Family Services, our goal is to invest in children and their families through our early childhood programs, continue that investment through our school-aged and adolescent programs and strengthen the family environment through our adult programs. Our intervention programs, which provide respite care, mental health counseling, and crisis management, are used with those families, where necessary, to protect the investment that is being made in their children. The overall goal is to create a nurturing, successful family environment where children have the skills later in life to become good parents and successful members of their communities.
