What's it like working in a small business office? Too many jobs yet you are indispensable. What’s it like to work in a non-profit organization’s office? You love the mission and busy all the time. You feel good inside but dealing with more deadlines than you expected. Opera NOVA is seeking volunteer Administrative Assistants to expand its cultural impact. We can place retired teachers, college students, musicians and current or retired public servants from all levels of government, and anyone sheltering in place from COVID-19.
Our job is to pass on America’s Cultural Musical Heritage to all who now call this community home. We want applicants to give 2 hours every week-in the office, doing tasks such as: clerical and organizational work, archiving video materials, data entry, and answering and making phone calls. Computer skills are helpful but not mandatory; we use MS Office products as well as access the internet. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please contact the Opera NOVA offices at mcdm1@verizon.net or (703) 536-7557.

About Opera NOVA

Mission Statement

Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

Description

Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.

Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
