Bark For Life

The marketing lead creates, develops, and implements marketing and publicity to raise awareness for Bark For Life. The social media lead is responsible for increasing the public’s perception, awareness, and understanding of Bark For Life and how the money raised supports the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving programs, services, and initiatives.

Individuals in this role will be able to coordinate, prepare, and implement a publicity and marketing strategy. Additionally, they will be familiar with or willing to learn how to utilize the resources and tools available to promote and market the event.

SPECIFIC TASKS & EXPECTATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Assist online and social media communications leads in cultivating relationships with contacts at media outlets and other promotional organizations.
  • Plan and implement strategies for event promotion, marketing materials, and resources.
  • Assist online and social media communications leads in messaging for online promotion.
  • Develop relationships and serve as the primary contact with media outlets and other organizations with a broad reach, including newspaper, radio, and television outlets, etc.
  • Leverage relationships with business contacts and other supporters to promote Bark For Life.
  • Work with other Bark For Life committee members, especially the social media lead, and staff to ensure that all marketing materials are available for the committee members in a timely manner.
  • Work with social media lead to create messaging for sponsors and teams to use when recruiting people to join their team and participate in Bark For Life.
  • Utilize the Brand Toolkit to ensure that all content adheres to the American Cancer Society’s branding standards.
  • Attend committee meetings approximately once per month (exact meeting schedule TBD).
