Silent Auction Lead - American Cancer Society Bark For Life of Greater Ann Arbor

The silent auction lead works with the Bark For Life staff partner and other volunteers to secure items from local businesses for the silent auction that happens at the Bark For Life event. The silent auction lead is responsible for securing items, organizing items, and running the silent auction on the day of Bark For Life (Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 9 AM - 12 PM). The goal of the silent auction is to raise additional funds to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving programs, services, and initiatives.
Individuals in this role represent the American Cancer Society and are comfortable speaking to businesses about the mission of the ACS and purpose of Bark For Life. Individuals in this role will be able to ask businesses for donations and organize auction items.
SPECIFIC TASKS & EXPECTATIONS INCLUDE:
- Work with Bark For Life Lead Volunteer and American Cancer Society staff to develop a solicitation action plan, which includes a wish list and potential sources of donations.
- Using personal and business contacts, personally solicit auction items.
- Organize all items and fill out auction bid sheets prior to the event.
- Coordinate transportation of all items to the Bark For Life even ton Saturday, August 24, 2019.
- Attend the Bark For Life event on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 8 AM - 1 PM (includes set-up of silent auction area, running silent auction area, collecting silent auction payments, and cleaning up the silent auction area with other volunteers).
- Attend committee meetings approximately once per month (exact meeting schedule TBD).
