For Kids Foundation Board Member Description

Serve a three-year term on our dynamic and diverse Board of Directors!

As a Board member, your responsibilities include:

1. Be familiar with our budget and take an active part in the budget-planning process.
2. Know and approve all policies and programs and oversee their implementation.
3. Take responsibility for making decisions on organization issues and Board matters.
4. Interpret the organization’s work and values to the community, represent the organization and service as a spokesperson.
5. Keep up to date on the business of the organization.
6. Excuse myself from discussions, decisions and votes where I may have a conflict of interest.
7. Attendance at 3 out of 4 quarterly Board meetings (usually a Thursday, 1-5 p.m.) and 20 out of 26 teleconferences (held at 7:30 a.m. every other Wednesday for ~30 minutes) in a calendar year. Should I be unable to attend a meeting, I will, if needed, be available for telephone consultation. Additionally, I will serve on at least one Board committee.
8. An annual personal financial contribution to the organization. This may be given as a one-time donation each year made before October 1 or in mutually agreed to installments during the course of the year. I will personally donate an amount that I consider generous.
9. Active participation in two fundraising events, namely, Annual Spring Golf Tournament and October Donor Appreciation Event. This may include individual and/or special event solicitation or direct mail appeals.
10. Working in good faith with my fellow Board members and staff toward the achievement of the organization’s goals.
11. Introduce a major funding source(s) to the Board annually.
