No tennis experience needed.
Opportunity: Provide values learned through sport - youth tennis & education programs in underserved communities. Supervise and teach the lifetime sport of tennis and provide an educational component. We work with the Housing Authority of Annapolis, Head Start of Brooklyn Park, the Hispanic/Latino community, Special Olympics (adults and youth), and participate in County Fairs and Festivals (when permitted post-COVID)
Locations: locations vary: Truxtun Park, Annapolis HS, other County Parks
Dates/times: May 2021 through October 2021
Wednesdays 3:45pm - 4:45pm at Brooklyn Park
Sundays 3:30pm - 5:30pm at Truxtun Park
Thursdays 5:45pm to 7pm Special Olympics tennnis at Annapolis High School

To provide a year-round home for tennis in Anne Arundel County and to promote tennis as a sport for Life for all ages and abilities.

Description

Tennis Alliance Outreach programming provides free tennis, health and educational programming to diverse and underserved communities including Special Olympics, Centro de Ayuda (Hispanic Latino community), Healthy Anne Arundel Obesity Prevention Subcommittee.
The Tennis Alliance organization is working with the County in a public private partnership to fund and build an indoor outdoor tennis center that is open to the public and engages youth and community organizations in a joint mission for health and quality of life opportunities. The Tennis Center at Millersville Park project is proposed to break ground in Fiscal Year 2020

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 15
  • We welcome just one 2-hour commitment. Most events are 1.5 hours and occur weekly for several weeks.
  • Our regular volunteers are required to go through USTA's Safe Play background check: www.usta.com/safeplay
