The Knowledge House (TKH) is always looking for new Guest Speakers for our Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP). As a Guest Speaker, you will have the opportunity to work with current and aspiring technologists, creatives, and entrepreneurs in and around the Bronx.
We are looking for speakers and moderators to join us on Thursday, March 7th, from 6pm - 8pm at Lehman College for an event in collaboration with NYC Open Data Week. For this year’s Open Data Week, we will be the only representation from the Bronx! This means a lot to us and we want to give back to the community the best way we know how. We'll have a panel on how to leverage city data to better allocate resources to individuals, community organizations, and small businesses. Also, we want to expose the audience to practical ways they can secure their data and introduce IPFS and VPN. We'll be happy to have you if you're free to participate in this event.

Mission Statement
The Knowledge House empowers and sustains a talent pipeline of technologists, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders, who will uplift their communities out of poverty. We are a social change organization. We passionately believe that young people should be given the opportunity to succeed regardless of their financial circumstances or ethnic background. We educate, empower, and serve young people from low-income communities in New York, Atlanta, Newark, and Los Angeles with the technology and workplace skills needed to launch successful careers in the technology industry. Through our digital skills programs, The Knowledge House is transforming the tech industry by building an army of talented workers equipped with the latest skills needed in today’s economy.
Description
The Knowledge House was founded in 2014 to close the gaps in the education-to-employment pipeline by leading digital skills training in coding and design for underserved young people in the Bronx, ages 14-35. Co-founded by CEO Jerelyn Rodriguez, Bronx-native and daughter of Dominican immigrants, and CTO Joe Carrano, Brooklyn-native and son of Ecuadorian immigrants, The Knowledge House is committed to taking emerging technologists from underrepresented groups on a direct path to meaningful employment in the technology sector by providing free technical training and professional development services.
Headquartered in the South Bronx, The Knowledge House provides job training to youth and adults seeking careers in technology. We offer year-long fellowship programs to job seekers in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Newark that provide entry-level skills for data engineering, web development, product design, and cyber security roles.
