Volunteers will join Ellanor C. Lawrence Park staff to work on much needed improvements of a popular trail system and the surrounding natural areas. This project can use anywhere from 5-15 volunteers. The work accomplished through volunteers will be a tremendous help to beautify the park. Volunteers will remove non-native invasive plants to protect native species. Non-native invasive plants overrun native vegetation, reducing habitat and biodiversity. Volunteers will pull or cut invasive plants in the natural areas using tools, such as Weed Wrenches or Pullbearers. Invasive plants to be removed include bush honeysuckle, autumn olive, multi-flora rose and garlic mustard.
Please take one more step and register for this event on the County webpage: https://volunteer.fairfaxcounty.gov/custom/1380/#/opp_details/184416
Volunteers should wear long sleeves, pants and sturdy shoes. Staff will provide tools, gloves and other equipment needed for the projects.
