The North Seattle Family Resource Center is a Worksource Education site and serves as a link to employment and education information and services. This position will assist participants with employment support. Provide direct client services in areas of creating and reviewing resumes and cover letters, assisting with applications, use of social media and networking, interviewing skills and referral to community resource and support services. Performs related duties as required. This position will conduct assessments, provide one-on-one job search assistance, make referrals, and assist participants with job retention and wage progression after placement.

- Respect the privacy of children, families, and staff; abide by the Volunteer Program’s confidentiality policies.
- Coach clients in developing job skills, resumes, cover letters etc. and provide clients with job search information.
- Will work with the consumer/client in meeting the individual services plan identified activities and goals that is strength based and meets their unique needs.
- Refers clients to appropriate occupational training programs and/or contracts for client training.
- Provides participants with support services and/or makes referrals to other community agencies to resolve barriers to employment.
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Available between < 8 hours per month, M-F 10 to 4>
- Ability to interact with a variety of people. Respect of diverse lifestyles, cultures, religions, and values
Preferred:
- Previous volunteer experience
- Experience in a children’s welfare or non-profit setting
- Bi-lingual a plus but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to take directions
- Ability to respect and maintain confidential information
- Ability to follow verbal & written instructions
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills
- Dependable, responsible, and punctual
- Recognizes limitations and asks for help when unsure
- Awareness of cultural competency; sensitivity in working with diverse cultures
ORIENTATION & TRAINING
Volunteers will maintain compliance with CHSW and program-specific standards in regard to competencies, safety, confidentiality, and infection control:
- Complete initial New Volunteer Training and site-specific orientation
- Learn and know infection control, CHSW safety and emergency protocols
- Review and follow policies and guidelines outlined in Volunteer Policies & Program Assignment handout
- Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and other volunteers
- Maintain regular communication with Volunteer Services and assigned program supervisor
- Maintain annual training compliance
