Our Market Kitchen Needs You! - Food Education/Demo Internship

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Hillsboro Farmers' Markets

  • 1 person is interested

Help us bring the love of cooking shows to the market - no cameras needed! Our Market Kitchen Intern will host and recruit local talent for chef demonstrations and educational information sessions with the goal of providing market customers new ways of utilizing market produce and products.

Market Kitchen connects culinary talent and food education/resources in our community with fresh produce from local vendors to prepare favorite seasonal dishes. Some Market Kitchen events include Chef Demonstrations, food demonstrations, food education, food competitions, tastings, cookbook signings, and more.

Market Kitchen Intern tasks will include:

  • Have a dynamic, engaging, and confident personality to lead presentations and demonstrations
  • Prepare and demonstrate dishes using seasonal produce at market
  • Provide knowledge to market customers about different recipes and using local produce
  • Identify and contact potential and past Market Kitchen hosts
  • Ensure hosts know what will be expected of them, what they will be required from them and when, and what HFM provides.
  • Prepare recipes and other Market Kitchen materials needed for each demonstration
  • Set up and tear down of the Market Kitchen booth
  • Assist Market Kitchen hosts at the market, answer questions, and be at the booth throughout the presentation
As an intern with the Market Kitchen program, you can help provide the community with healthy food options using local produce. You can connect with your local growers and producers to make new friends and learn more about local produce support. You will also gain skills in a further cooking ability, presenting in front of an audience, and community leadership.

The Hillsboro Farmers' Markets run from April to October, and Market Kitchen interns are needed on Saturday or Sunday AM/PM. Come join the fun and help individuals and families learn more about how to use their farmers market produce!

Hillsboro Farmers' Markets creates community gathering-places for people to buy local produce and products. We partner with farms, small businesses, and groups to provide education and resources. These efforts strive to enhance our community health and economic growth.
