The Historic Sites Volunteer Corps is looking for volunteers to help with a landscape clean-up and light carpentry project at Turner Farmhouse on Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm. These projects will help the Resident Curator of the site maintain and prepare the grounds for agricultural use.
The circa 1905 farmhouse is significant due to its Queen Anne style architecture and its association with Mark Turner, who was a leader in local and state-wide dairy farming, first master of the Great Falls Grange, and was a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
Age Requirements: Ages 12 - 15 are welcome with adult supervision. 16 and up are allowed to work without adult supervision, but we require a driver’s license for confirmation.
This volunteer opportunity would be great for anyone interested in history, architecture, landscaping, gardening, and community outreach.
