In 2022, our Food Recovery Program saved 1.2 MILLION pounds of consumable food that would otherwise have gone into landfills-- feeding those in need and benefitting our environment. This year we hope to increase that with YOUR help.
Recovered Food Delivery Drivers-help us pick up and/or deliver food donated by stores and restaurants. This food is removed from the waste stream and landfills and instead provides local families in need or individuals with chronic illness with fresh, healthy food. TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal) provides healthy food and supportive services to our neighbors with chronic illnesses. TOUCH works with our partner organizations in Rockland Community Against Hunger (RCAH) to distribute food to over 30 area food pantries. Prevent hunger by helping our neighbors in need and protect our environment by keeping food out of landfills!
Help rescue food from local stores and deliver it to a participating food program. Volunteer drivers can commit to a weekly food rescue run or fill in when needed. Most food rescue runs take about an hour and can be done using your own vehicle. Volunteers should be able to do some lifting. We currently have a route to Nanuet Aldi and Stop and Shop in New City open on Mondays and Fridays, as well as need for sorters those days.
Businesses, church or worship groups, teen groups, and community organizations are always welcome to volunteer with us!

Mission Statement
Since 1989, TOUCH-Together Our Unity Can Heal, has provided compassionate services to our friends and neighbors living with HIV, diabetes, heart disease, Hepatitis C and other chronic illnesses. TOUCH distributes more than 400,000 meals per year to over 500 families dealing with chronic illness.
Description
TOUCH prevents suffering and improves quality of life by providing medical case management, nutritional counseling, healthy food options, and wellness support groups. Our "Get Fresh" and Eating Well Nutrition Therapy Programs prevent hunger and improve health outcomes for our members. We offer a welcoming, safe environment free of stigma for all those we serve, including vulnerable populations who too often experience cultural and social barriers to receiving the services that can change their lives for the better.
TOUCH also manages Federal Hunger Prevention & Nutrition Assistance Programs (HPNAP) and FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Programs. Our Food Recovery Program saved over 40,000 pounds of consumable food in 2018 that would otherwise have gone into landfills-- feeding those in need and benefitting our environment.
Volunteers, grants and individual donations are all essential to our continued success in serving our community. We welcome your support and personal involvement in building a healthier community where no one is left behind.
