Handwritten Thank You notes are sent to all new Type O Negative Blood Donors. Because they are the Universal Donor for Red Blood Cells - Type O Negative Blood Donors are always in high demand. Volunteers at Memorial Blood Centers receive note cards, envelopes, stamps, a list of new Type O Negative Blood Donors as well as sample scripts, and write Thank You notes. These notes serve to recognize donor's contributions, educate them about the need for their gift and encourage them to stay connected to Memorial Blood Centers and continue to donate. Thank you notes can be written by volunteers at a location of their choosing. Memorial Blood Centers recognizes between 80 and 150 new type O Negative Blood Donors each month. Volunteer candidates must be at least 16 years old.
