American Leprosy Missions (ALM) is seeking a current college or graduate student who is interested in serving as a research intern for college credit.

The research intern will work closely with the development team, an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission. The intern will participate in a research project which will identify, qualify, and capture potential donors for the major donor team to cultivate. This project will offer the candidate the opportunity to hone their reading comprehension and research skills, gain insight into the international not-for-profit industry and contribute to an exciting initiative that will help advance the ministry.

This is an exciting time to join an organization committed to developing new ways to tackle an ancient disease like leprosy, and similar diseases of poverty, with high-impact, sustainable solutions.

Time Requirement: Schedule is flexible within normal business hours, but intern must be able to commit to at least 10 hours a week for 12 weeks. This internship is paid so intern must meet a minimum requirement of 120 hours.

Internship Description:

  • Work with the major gifts team to identify, research and qualify major gift prospects.
  • Assist with capturing important information into donor database that would help in donor cultivation and relationship building.
  • Work with the vice president of development to create and maintain donor analysis using wealth scoring and donor database information.
  • Assist with brainstorming and providing ideas to create new outreach opportunities.
  • Participate in staff meetings and learning opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned based on intern’s abilities and the needs of American Leprosy Missions.

Qualifications:

  • Motivated to work on a project requiring attention to detail and focus
  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Strong writing, research and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, internet and e-mail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
  • Genuine commitment to the principles and work of American Leprosy Missions
