Bristol Hospice is a leader in the hospice industry and we are currently looking for Volunteers in Duluth, GA. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, come volunteer for us!
We are not an inpatient unit, meaning we go where our patients live (i.e. assisted living centers, memory care units, nursing homes, and residential homes). There is some travel involved.
What will you do as a volunteer?
- Provide companionship (read, talk, play music, sit and just be a gift of presence for a terminally ill patient)
- Provide respite for a caregiver (stay with the patient while the caregiver leaves the house, run errands or do LIGHT housekeeping
- Life review, color, do puzzles or play games with the patient
- Assist the patient to the restroom
- Change them
- Lay hands on them
- Lift them or reposition them
- Transport them or their family in a car
- Fill out an application
- Be at least 16 years old
- Pass a background check, drug test, and TB test (all paid for by Bristol)
- Take online Relias training modules
- Attend a mandatory orientation (done at your convenience near where you live)
- Agree to volunteer no less than twice per month
If this sounds like something you are yearning to do, let's talk!
