Mission Statement

We are growing the movement of people and organizations working together to prevent and end human trafficking in Michigan and beyond.

Description

We are the Michigan Abolitionist Project (MAP). We are everyday people who are making a difference in communities across Michigan by using what we have, our gifts and talents, to address the root causes of slavery. We want to protect our communities and are working to prevent human trafficking and transform the culture that causes slavery to exist and thrive. Human trafficking is when someone exploits another person using force, fraud, or coercion for financial gain; it’s a large and growing criminal activity in our country and state. Human trafficking has been identified in communities all across Michigan, rural towns to big cities. MAP aims to prevent it. We have established a growing number of community groups and Abolitionists spanning from east to west to mid-Michigan that are continually building awareness and serving their community. Since 2012 we have been proactive in education and prevention efforts. We present to dozens of organizations each year and have been a catalyst for collaboration among advocates and stakeholders addressing human trafficking in Michigan.
