Job Title: Marketing Manager
Organization: ChickTech Austin
ChickTech is a multi-generational community supporting women and girls to become technology creators.
We are dedicated to retaining women in the technology workforce and increasing the number of women and girls pursuing technology-based careers. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls. Through our events, ChickTech builds community, empowers participants to see themselves as leaders, and provides networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing high tech industry.
We are looking for a Marketing Manager for the Austin chapter of ChickTech. This volunteer role would be responsible for developing and documenting a marketing system that can be easily duplicated in other cities as ChickTech grows. Your role is to let the community know all about the great things we’re doing and that we need their support to succeed. This will include encouraging people to come to/volunteer at our events, securing PR opportunities, and keeping our web presence updated. You’ll also work with the fundraising coordinator to craft great messages and materials to raise funds.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot original branding opportunities.
Understanding of social media and web
Experience with mailing campaigns
Ability to work well with others
Management experience a plus
Knowledge of Hootsuite and Wordpress a plus
Key responsibilities include:
Development and documentation of branding, marketing and communications strategies for the chapter/organization
Oversee implementation of the above marketing strategy, including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR
Develop the marketing strategy for new events and programs
Work closely with the rest of the leadership team to define marketing materials and programs
Manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition
Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends
Work with the Fundraising Managers to promote any fundraising events and provide materials to acknowledge and sustain our relationships with donors
Create and maintain newsletters to keep our students, volunteers, and mentors up-to-date with news and events
Continuously update the website
Work with Leaders to ensure that upcoming events and needs are published to social media and website
Expected time commitment: 5-10 hours/week (more during High School Kickoff season). This includes checking your ChickTech email at least three times a week to ensure that potential volunteers are not waiting for communication.
We ask that all leadership team members commit to one year of being on the team if possible, although less can be negotiated! Please be honest about your time commitments, while we realize it is difficult to forecast what you may be doing four or five months out, we ask potential leadership team members to try their best to upfront with any conflicts, either work or personal. Thank you for your understanding!

Description
ChickTech: High School
revolves around creating events that will get high schoolers interested and excited about technology. These events pose some interesting challenges, as we expect that most of our participants have never had a chance to do anything like what we are offering. Our goal is to reach the girls who would make great engineers, but because of stereotypes and a lack of opportunity, may not realize it until they are already doing something else, if at all. We also strive to show the relevance of each workshop to their lives-and help them to understand that they have the ability to transform the tech industry!
ChickTech: Career
is for women of all ages (and careers!). We believe our events will help to keep women engaged if they are already in high tech, give them confidence if they were thinking about going into high tech, and help them to create a great network of intelligent, amazing women just like themselves. The events range from networking to hands-on workshops, with most of our events falling in the latter category.
