The Bakken Museum sits on nearly 4 beautiful acres of property on the west side of Bde Maka Ska (Formerly, Lake Calhoun). Our unique urban property includes some major surprises for garden enthusiasts, including prairie and wetland restoration areas, a medicinal plant garden, organic vegetable gardens and much more.
Of course, there is much to be done year-round to maintain and enhance our gardens and grounds. We have an informal group of volunteer gardeners of all skill levels who meet regularly on Saturday mornings (9:00am - 11:30am) and Thursday evenings (4:30pm - 7:00pm) to do whatever needs doing. Peak volunteer months range from April to November. Opportunities include planting in-pots and in-ground, spring site preparation, weeding, watering, pruning, with jobs big and small. Jobs range from small detailed work to heavy duty labor. Additionally, we work with individuals and groups numbering up to 50 to accomplish projects year round. If your group is over 50, please contact Will Elsas at firstname.lastname@example.org
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
We'll work with your schedule.
