West Valley Animal Services is always looking for volunteers who want to make a difference and help stray animals! We are a no-kill city run animals shelter that picks up and takes in stray animals, while trying to find their old owners, or match them with new families in the event that their original homes are not found.

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to manage the donations that we receive. Donations include: Pet food, towels, blankets, medical supplies, cleaning supplies, and more.

Volunteer Position- Donations Manager

Shifts:

Monday-Friday 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm.

Saturdays 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm
(Only open 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month.)

Time Commitment:

Must be able to commit to at least a two hour shift twice a week.

Job Description:

Sort and organize donations received from the public as well as donations received from other businesses. Note when certain donated items are needed and work with lead volunteers and shelter supervisor to create posts for needed items.

Duties:

Sort through received donations and determine what items we will keep and which ones we will pass on to other facilities.

Organize and clean donations area- Clean out items that are expired or in bad shape. Keep food items rotating to use oldest first.

Make lists of donations we are running short on as well and work with other positions to make social media posts for needed donations.

Help communicate and coordinate with other shelters and facilities to pass along donations that we do not need.

Training:

Completion of Initial Volunteer Training and Donations Training.

Qualifications:

Must be 16 years of age or older. Must have good physical strength and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work independently and adhere to all shelter safety policies. Organizational skills, teamwork, and leadership skills are a plus.
