Hospital Cancer Support Volunteer - Dire Need

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Cancare, Inc.

  • 3 people are interested

All CanCare support volunteers are survivors of cancer or caregivers of cancer survivors who provide emotional support and resource information to cancer patients. They are individuals who desire to support others by using what their own cancer journey has taught them. Volunteers help patients talk about their cancer experience and share personal feelings that they might not otherwise be able to express. Hospital volunteers meet with cancer patients and caregivers face-to-face at their place of treatment in the radiation department, infusion area or inpatient. They typically go through our CanCare hospital training and the volunteer orientation required by the hospital or clinic where they are volunteering. They commit several hours each week to the location they are volunteering with.

No medical advice is given.
