Purpose
After-School All-Stars (ASAS) Philadelphia and Camden’s Young Professionals Board is a group of young professionals committed to supporting the organization and its mission. The YPB members strives to develop themselves as model philanthropic leaders and next-generation advocates for education. The YPB plays an integral role in the ASAS community, volunteering their time and energy in support of the organization’s mission.
Who are the Young Professional Members?
ASAS Philadelphia & Camden Advisory Board Members are champions of ASAS in the Greater Philadelphia region. ASAS Young Professionals Board is a group of young professionals committed to supporting the organization and its mission. The YPB members strives to develop themselves as model philanthropic leaders and next-generation advocates for education. The YPB plays an integral role in the ASAS community, volunteering their time and energy in support of the organization’s mission.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the mission and core values of ASAS
- Connect ASAS Philadelphia & Camden to new corporate contacts or foundations
- Each YPB member will contribute and/or acquire donations of $500 annually
- Promote ASAS Philadelphia & Camden mission and programs in the community
- Attend and participate in meetings and program events on a regular basis
- Plan and execute at least 1 fundraising event each year
Length of Term
Board members serve a one-year term. Terms may be renewed indefinitely. There will be an annual review between each board member, board chair, and the ASAS Philadelphia & Camden Staff liaison to determine continuation of board membership. If a Young Professional member cannot fulfill his/her responsibilities, then they may be asked to leave prior to the end of their term.
Time Commitment
Board Meetings
The Young Professionals Board meets monthly. It is important that all board members attend these meetings to hear organizational updates, report their progress, present new leads and/or request support from other board members/staff.
Program Events
Board members are encouraged to attend special events involving ASAS Philadelphia & Camden whenever possible. Important events include:
- Semester Culminating Events
- Hoop-a-Thon
- Annual Meeting
- Others - TBD
Connecting ASAS Philadelphia & Camden to new resources
Board members spend, on average, one hour per month outside of the monthly meeting contacting potential corporate partners to provide introductions to ASAS and checking in with staff liaison.

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) provides free, comprehensive after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life. Our vision is for our All-Stars to be safe and healthy, to graduate high school and go to college, to find careers they love, and then give back to their communities.
Description
Founded in 1992 by Arnold Schwarzenegger, After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is a leading national provider of free, comprehensive after-school programs. Our chapter serves 500 students at 12 sites across Philadelphia and Camden.
To best equip our students for success, our curriculum is structured around five core programs: academic readiness, visual and performing arts, STEM learning, health and wellness, and career exploration.
ASAS Philadelphia & Camden offers a holistic approach to extended day learning. We give youth access to valuable after-school programs that respond to their evolving needs and helps them create their own paths to success.
