Summary: The Grant Writing Volunteer will provide essential research for the development of grant application strategy, and will support with the drafting and preparation of grant proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research available and applicable grants and prospective funders
• Data entry and time-lining for grant proposals
• Research, retrieval, and assembly of background material for grant proposals
• Draft letters of inquiry and full grant proposals for submission
• Record/report volunteer hours in the volunteer management system

Requirements:

• Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner
• Willingness to learn about Gulf Coast JFCS programs
• Must be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
• Previous volunteer experience or familiarity with non-profits preferred, or desire to gain such experience

Training and Supervision:

• Program-specific orientation provided by Senior Grant Writer
• Training and supervision conducted by Volunteer Coordinator and Senior Grant Writer
