LVM Literacy Unlimited at the Framingham Public Library is always looking for volunteers to become literacy tutors. We have two types of tutoring programs; ESOL for students learning English as a second language, and ABE for students learning how to improve their reading and writing skills. Tutors may work with one student, or they may teach a small group or class.
ALL Volunteer tutors must undergo an 18 hour tutor training before they can begin to work with a student. The next ESOL tutor training will be on Wednesday nights. February 5, 12, 19, 26 March 4, and 11, 5:30-8:30 pm. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED at our website - https://framinghamlibrary.org/literacy/our-program/become-a-tutor/
We will offer both types of training at various points throughout the year. Please contact our office to find the most up-to-date information regarding the next tutor training dates.
Thank You!

Mission Statement
LVM Literacy Unlimited, the adult tutoring program in Metrowest, makes a positive difference in the lives of adults in our community. We train volunteers who provide one-to-one tutoring in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and for Basic Literacy (BL) students. Housed at Framingham Public Library and Morse Institute Library (Natick), we are an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts and follow their guidelines for student - centered tutoring, training of tutors, collection of data, and evaluation. LVM Literacy Unlimited is free, operates year-round, and is flexible in scheduling, making it a good option for students with different learning styles and schedules.
Description
Our program began in 1986 and today, our office supports the almost 200 tutor student pairs. We offer 7 tutor trainings per year (6 for ESOL tutors and one for BL tutors). The comprehensive trainings are six session (3 hours each). After the training, each tutor is matched with a student and then the fun begins!
Our students are from all over the world and have many different interests. The matching process is important to get that right fit.
