Gentle and patient individuals needed to assist with meals/mealtimes on Dementia/Alz. unit. This opportunity does not require volunteers to assist residents with eating. Tasks do involve assisting staff with the following:
Serving drinks to residents
Passing out meals/trays to residents
Assisting residents with "setting up" their meal (utensils in place, napkin, insuring food and drinks are within reach, etc.)
Assisting residents with cutting up/stirring food, and application of condiments as needed
Prompting residents to eat by placing food on utensil, drink in hand, etc.
Gently encouraging residents to eat and allowing residents time to complete tasks residents are capable of doing for themselves.
Resident requests/customer service.
Volunteers will absolutely receive the full support of staff in these tasks and will be trained/educated on specific resident needs (dietary/fluid textures, consistencies, etc.) Interested individuals must be patient, gentle, and willing to foster the quiet, supportive, eating/meal focused environment that best supports our residents on this unit.
Mealtimes are the following for all 7 days of the week:
BREAKFAST: 7:45AM-8:45AM LUNCH: 11:45-12:45 DINNER: 5:00PM-6:00PM
We'll work with your schedule.
