Are you passionate about the outdoors? Leadership development? Do you want to help grow the next generation of strong girls and women? If this sounds like you, consider becoming a Girl Scout trainer!

Trainers collaborate with staff and other trainers to provide instruction to troop leaders and adult volunteers on outdoor skills, leadership, girl growth and management, and other topics. Through skillful presentations, trainers work with the Girl Scout community to achieve our mission. Commitment

Classes are offered in the late afternoons and evenings during the week, and during the days and evenings on weekends. Most courses run between 1.5 and 3 hours long. Hands-on, skill-based courses run between 3 and 7 hours long, and may run for up to 2 days.

• Able to deliver engaging and interactive presentations to groups of all sizes.
• Able to work productively and respectfully with people of diverse cultures, abilities, personalities, ages, and backgrounds.
• Represent Girl Scouts in a professional manner through performance, attitude, and dress.
• Project a positive and encouraging demeanor that fosters confidence in leaders.
• Possess strong and proficient computer skills for email communication and document/resource sharing.

Expectations

• Commit to a one year term (to be reappointed annually).
• Communicate with staff promptly regarding scheduling availability and logistics.
• Live by and model the Girl Scout Law.
• Embrace a culture of constructive, two-way feedback.
• Understand and articulate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Requirements

• Submit to a background check and be a registered Girl Scout member
• Train a minimum of 3 classes or 10 hours per membership year (Oct.-Sep.)
• Complete the required training specific to the courses trainer intends to lead
• Participate in scheduled trainer team events, including skill development sessions, new/updated curriculum training, retreats, etc.
• Stay current and up-to-date with Girl Scout program changes.
• Accept and comply with GSUSA and GSSD standards, including but not limited to Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
