We need to raise $850,000 to start building affordable homes in Sonoma County. This is our first development project and we plan to build many more, including in San Francisco. The first project is to build 16 houses on a residential lot in Petaluma, where there is a SMART station for access to San Francisco.

We are looking for volunteers to talk to people who hold garage, yard, stoop, or estate sales and ask if they would be willing to donate their leftovers on behalf of Care Association to the Community Thrift Store at 623 Valencia Street, San Francisco. We partnered with the store in January 2019.

This opportunity is good for individuals or groups. Groups can offer to bring leftovers to the store. Donation hours of Community Thrift Store are seven days a week from 10am until 5pm. More donation info is on their site: https://www.communitythriftsf.org/donate/

We look forward to hearing from you!

About CARE ASSOCIATION

Location:

1951 Page Street, San Francisco, CA 94117, US

Mission Statement

Care Association plans, develops, and implements innovative strategies to alleviate economic burdens on lower- and middle-income households. We serve households in the United States that pay more than 30% of their gross income on housing or are transient because of lack of affordable housing. With the Care For Us web platform, we aim first to establish connections between households that are unable to compete in inflated real estate markets and homeowners who prefer to offer housing on their own terms. Secondly, we aim to connect and offer goods and services to those in need. Thirdly, we curate information and provide links to resources to inspire and enrich users’ experience.

Description

Care Association is focused on alleviating the economic burdens of low- and middle-income households by creating truly affordable housing. We are currently in the development process of an accessory dwelling unit that will be deeded affordable in Marin County, and provide a prototype for housing that has a low materials cost.
