Our Friendly Visiting Program is an opportunity for you to create a friendship with an elder in your community. There is so much you can learn and gain from this opportunity. They have so many stories and life lessons that they can share with you.
We ask that you make a commitment to visit your elder, who you will be paired with, at least twice a month. You can visit them in their home and play a game of cards or look at pictures or simply talk with them about life or different interests that you both share. Or you can take them to run errands, which trust me is usually a good time. The way they see the world compared to you will amaze you. Imagine getting out or your house only once or twice a month you would see the world differently too. Or just go for a walk and enjoy what mother nature has to show the two of you.
Some of our volunteers have learned to play chess, or learned interesting facts about local history, but most importantly have created a friendship that they cherish.

Mission Statement

Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is a national network of non-profit, volunteer based organizations committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. We offer to people of good will the opportunity to join the elderly in friendship and celebration of life.

Description

We have several programs which we offer our elders. The first and the basis of our organization is our Friendly Visiting Program. It is the heart of Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly. Through this program, we ask volunteers to make a commitment to visit the elderly friend they are paired with on a regular basis. Your visits may include running errands, taking walks, sharing coffee, and reminiscing.
Each relationship is different and so is the amount of contact and activities shared by the parties involved. We merely ask you to commit to visit your elderly friend at least twice a month.
Another activity that we offer is Celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with our dinners for the Elderly. We host Holiday dinners where the elderly can come for food and fellowship. We need help with preparation, serving, and clean up along with delivering meals to those elderly who cannot attend.
All of these activities are truly a gift to our elderly but also to our volunteers. We can learn so much and gain so much enjoyment out of the stories and lessons they have to share with us. Please consider donating your time to our cause.
