SOME Senior Services is looking for a volunteer to teach beginner's Spanish older adults (60+) on either one Monday or one Tuesday a month between April and December of this year.
Learning a new language has demonstrated benefits for intelligence, memory and concentration, and it lowers the risks of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
This a great opportunity for volunteers looking to share their Spanish skills with older adults.
Volunteers should bring learning tools that are necessary to teach course; if not, Senior Services will provide cost effective materials.
Volunteers should have skills or a degree in language teaching and knowledge of the older adult population.
Volunteers can choose from the following once-a-month schedules to serve:
- One Monday from 1p - 2p
- One Tuesday from 3p - 4p

About SOME - So Others Might Eat
Location:

Mission Statement
SOME exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness.
Description
SOME has been serving the homeless and poor since 1970. Today, we are the only interfaith organization in the District that offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to caring for the homeless and extremely poor residents of our city. Though best known for serving more than 800 meals every day of the week, we provide programs that meet a full spectrum of needs that restore hope and dignity to the men, women, and children who come to our doors.
SOME's integrated service model allows poor and homeless individuals in our community to move forward on a path out of homelessness and poverty.
