Habitat Greater Ottawa is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual interested in becoming Chair of the Steel Toes & Stilettos Gala Committee.

The Chair will lead the Gala Committee, which provides overall direction for the Gala and makes all strategic planning decisions related to the event, including the creation and implementation of a business plan, overseeing procurement, sponsorship and volunteer management.

REPORT TO: Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa, Development and Marketing Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand and promote Habitat Greater Ottawa’s mission, vision and values with all volunteers and the community in general
• Liaise with Habitat Greater Ottawa Development and Marketing Manager and various Habitat Greater Ottawa staff on an as needed basis regarding Gala operations and logistics
• Create a business plan, oversee procurement, sponsorship and volunteer management
• Schedule, organize and lead Gala Committee meetings
• Delegate responsibilities to Gala Committee members and ensure completion of tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High-level individual or businesses connections in Greater Ottawa area and/or willingness to reach out to those networks is an asset
• Experience in an executive position, leadership/management role, or project management is an asset
• Experience in event management is an asset
• Experience in budgeting, strategic planning and governance is an asset
• People-oriented and able to work with different personality types and delegate work as needed
• Ability to inspire and promote Habitat for Humanity’s mission and vision within the community
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle an asset

TIME COMMITMENT:

• Committee members commit to full 9 month planning term
• Willing and able to volunteer evenings and weekends to handle committee responsibilities
• Willing and able to volunteer at the Gala on Saturday Nov 2, 2019 from 9am- 11pm. This includes set up of room, Gala event, and end of night tear down
• Monthly meetings February to July
• Biweekly meetings August to September
• Weekly meetings in October leading up to the Gala
• Post-event meeting in November
• Meetings are held at 768 Belfast Road after work hours in the evening
