Volunteer Client Advisers (VCA) needed for End of Life Washington in Kitsap County. Did you know that Washington State is a Death With Dignity state? Would you like to work with clients who want to avail themselves of that law and help them navigate through the Death With Dignity process? If so, we would like to talk to you. You will periodically be assigned a client who has chosen to use the law. You will meet with the client (and their family) and explain the process to them and then provide guidance as they complete the steps necessary to end their lives on their terms. You will be expected to attend their final day and help the family cope with their feelings. It is not for the faint of heart but rather for those who believe in the right of people to determine the manner and time of their death. You will join a group of 50 other VCAs around the state who meet regularly either in person or through virtual meetings for support and guidance. This could be the most fulfilling volunteer position you could ever undertake. End of Life WA will provide training, mentoring and support. Access to cell phone and a computer a must. Hours vary and flexibility needed. Must have excellent communications skills. References, confidentiality agreement and background check will be required.
